The company is managed by Jean-Pierre Ellner (3rd generation) and his wife Michèle, with the help of their daughters Emmanuelle and Alexandra, and their nephews Frédéric and Arnaud. The Ellner house was established by Charles-Émile Ellner in the early 20th century. His son and successor Pierre was the true driving force of the house and passed his enthusiasm for the land and the wine on to his children. |
Vintages for sale |
Brut Premier Cru : 75% Chardonnay, 25% Pinot Noir. Fresh hazelnut on the nose, lovely palate, combining distinction and roundness, a winy champagne yet featuring great finesse, opulent and fragrant, with notes of brioche on the finish. |
Vineyard |
Reasoned agriculture, minimal use of chemical input; controlled grass cover, organic fertilizer.
This vineyard takes its roots from 15 different locations : Côte des Blancs, Montage de Reims, Vallée de la Marne, Côtes de Sézanne.
“We moved towards reasoned agriculture fifteen years ago, and we follow the precautionary approach in order to preserve the environement » Frédéric Ellner says. « We endeavour to age our vineyard to get older vines and apply very little uprooting to ensure the quality of the vines on the best parcels. In difficult times, this is undeniably a qualitative asset : we get higher sugar levels from old vines, this is the wisdom that comes with age... |
Soil and exposure |
Our vines partly spread over the Côtes d'Epernay, the typicity of the soil includes a beautiful limestone terroir which gives such distinctive flavours to our champagnes. |
